Hi friends.

This upsets me a bit. It’s not that shit with Ilhan and dual loyalties, it’s the threat of us and them.

My family is a long time Democrat. I don’t like this coded a language shit. I know a dog whistle when I see it. It’s not how this country works.

I’m a Jew who has spent my entire career working with Muslims. This shit is not okay.  It just isn’t.

No good can come of such things. I think for those of us who are used to living/ working in a Benetton commercial, this stuff isn’t as dangerous as it is for people who have never met/worked with/hung out with people of different backgrounds. The tribal stuff works dangerously well on people that have never crossed paths with the group that is being held out as the enemy.

Well maybe if people would stop tolerating this idea that Nazi and fascist ideology was in any way acceptable - much less at the highest level of government - we wouldn’t have this problem.

But noooo, it’s more important to be ‘civil’ to the guy that just shot you for the color of your skin. And it’s very important not to offend people who take issue with video games set in alternate timelines where you shoot Nazis.

tl;dr: if we got back to killing Nazis (as is just and right) we wouldn’t fucking be here.

As far as Ilhan’s comments; those are unnacceptable for the sole reason that we all know those are antisemitic tropes.

But I think that the entire world needs to have a conversation over why the fuck comments about Israel, a secular country, are inmediately linked to judaism, a religion.
